The Village Hall
The Village Hall at Gorsley has been used for all kinds of local events and get togethers for over 40 years.
It was first decided that Gorsley needed a Village Hall way back in 1945 at the end of World War II. The cost of building the Hall was to be met by all kinds of local fundraising events held at local farms, the Pub and the School. In 1948 it was agreed that a piece of land in Quarry Lane should be bought from a Mr Phillips for the princely sum of £100 on which the Hall would be built.
It was to be a further 9 years before the purchase of the land was complete and another 6 years before work actually began on the building work. The Village Hall was eventually finished and officially opened on July 18th 1964. An extension to the existing building was completed in 1993 and the Village Hall is now regularly used for all types of activities from discos and dances to local meetings and family celebrations.
